The Paris MoU adopts New Inspection Regime (NIR)
The Paris MOU issued a press release on 17 May 2010, stating that the Paris Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control held its 43rd Committee Meeting in Dublin on 10-14 May. The meeting adopted the New Inspection Regime (NIR), which will enter into force on 1 January 2011. The NIR is a risk-based targeting mechanism, intended to reward quality shipping with a smaller inspection burden and concentrate on high-risk ships.
Concentrated Inspection Campaign on ISPS Code In Italy
The Italian Adminisitration has announced a Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) on ISPS Code based on Iterim Guidance on Control and Compliance measures to enhance Maritime Security (RESOLUTION MSC.159(78)). CIC has started on 01 May to will last until 30 June 2010, in accordance to the new Circular Letter no. 01/2010 dated 08/04/2010.
New Port State Control Reporting Obligations
The new PSC Inspection Regime entering into force on 1 January 2011
